The Coaching Process

Below is a general outline of the coaching process. Please keep in mind that coaching is highly personalized to your individual goals and needs. All coaching sessions are held in the strictest confidence.

Complimentary Sample Session — free 40-minute session

During this free session you'll experience firsthand what coaching with me is like. We'll explore what you want more of in your life, your dreams and goals or simply just what's on your mind at the time. You'll walk away with some action to take immediately or a new perspective on your current situation to help move you forward! Contact me to sign up for your free session.

Foundation Session — 2-hour session (typically in-person) to establish coaching relationship

Once we decide to work together, we'll proceed with a foundation session, which sets the stage for our coaching relationship. Typically, the foundation session is a face-to-face meeting that lasts for about 2 hours with some prep work done in advance. The purpose of this session is to get to know you better by exploring your values, future vision, goals, strengths and challenges. We will begin the process of identifying what actions you need to take and what quality of life shifts need to occur for you to be balanced and fulfilled right now.

We will also use this time to design our coaching alliance (e.g., define how we want to work together, discuss what you're looking for in a coach, identify the areas to focus our coaching on, agree on logistics, etc.). Finally, we will discuss some coaching terms and concepts to provide a common language for our relationship.

Regularly Scheduled Coaching Sessions — 30-minute weekly coaching calls for a minimum commitment of three months

We follow the foundation session with weekly phone sessions. You'll use these calls to explore where you are at, give status on your action plan, share current challenges and successes and deepen your learning. I'll ask powerful questions, check progress and hold accountability, all while guiding the self-discovery process. I'll coach around whatever comes up in the moment while ensuring that your bigger picture is always being held.

You'll have a thought-provoking inquiry to reflect on and/or some type of committed action to take before the next call. These assignments will help you to continue surfacing valuable insights and keep your momentum going. More often then not, the rich learning comes during the quality time you spend engaging with these questions in-between the coaching calls.

Art Visioning Sessions — optional in-person sessions incorporating creativity and art

Art and creativity are gateways to your intuition and deeper self. Don't worry if you don't have to consider yourself an "artist" — all humans are uniquely creative and that includes YOU!

Sometimes pictures, colors, textures and movement are better mediums for articulating our thoughts and feelings. So, through activities such as collage, visualization, storytelling, drawing, painting and book arts we'll gain a fresh perspective on something we're coaching around or help crystallize your values and vision.

Plus, the artwork is a great visual reminder for what you experienced and learned.

Completion — typically the final session, but also applies as a quarterly check-in

Once you feel you've met all the goals you set out to accomplish when you started coaching and you're on your way to living the life you've always wanted, we'll make sure to bring a formal close to our coaching in a meaningful and ceremonial way.

If we use it as a quarterly check-in, we'll review how far you've come and where you're going next. We'll conduct a final session where we'll highlight what you've learned, your accomplishments and challenges, etc. and we'll identify ways for you to sustain success.

It's a great way to just step back and reflect on your progress. Most importantly, we'll celebrate who you've become!
